The case study proposes a multi-attribute analysis application identifying the areas of natural and cultural attraction of strategic importance, provided in the POR Calabria FESR FSE 2014-2020, for the implementation of projects targeted to cultural and natural resources. The main purpose of the study is to produce a ranking of the municipal territories based on the capacity/potential of natural and/or cultural attraction and to identify a subset of territories of strategic importance. The ‘ad-hoc’ model developed derives from the theoretical group of scoring methods and proceeds from the classification of alternatives, estimating separately the value of each considered asset, investigating each dimension of analysis (natural, cultural, tourist, territorial and socio-economic). Furthermore, the value of each dimension is aggregated by apposite function representative of the total value of each alternative. The results of the study produced summary reports and maps which have permitted a better understanding of the relevance and the attractiveness of the cultural heritage and territories analysed, and contributed to a better designing of the interventions to be funded.
