The whole of unpublished deeds connected to administration of S. Nicholas’s immovable property is studied with a twofold purpose. First of all a careful examination of management of monastic endowments through long time contracts. The valueless tenements, which need great tillages, are leased to willing tenants who stipulate agrarian meliorative contracts, enfiteusi or censi, with a large circulation in the sicilian praxis of transactions. Moreover some contracts are studied from the point of view of technical and juridical formulary in comparison with the professionalism of notary who draw up the instruments. The matter is explained in according to statute law of Regnum Siciliae, without disregärding the general law of Church and Empire.
