This article is based on a comprehensive study of television programs dedicated to the centenary of the March on Rome in Italy in 2022. These programs were broadcast by public and private networks on free-to-air digital channels. The most ambitious of these programs are modern jour-nalistic investigations that use a close dialogue between past and present to reconstruct the history of the March. While this narrative mode reflects changes in television and journalistic language between the old and new millennium, a more traditional format can be found in history programs created by Rai. According to audience data, the search for narrative mod-els closer to the sensitivity of new generations of spectators hasn’t suc-ceeded in drawing young audiences to this type of production, that is, to (more or less highbrow) historical dissemination.
