Il pensiero filosofico di Jurieu è conosciuto soprattutto attraverso la presenza che se ne ritrova in Bayle, specie a proposito della questione della teodicea. Qui è presentato il suo attacco multiforme ai nemici esterni, anti-cristiani, e agli avversari correligionari, a suo giudizio ancor più pericolosi. Attorno a lui è ricostruita una trama di polemiche che spesso lo ebbero a bersaglio privilegiato. La ricostruzione si giova del ritrovamento d’un testo inedito, preso di mira tematicamente da Jurieu.
