This article analyses team work in the social and health services, a form of organization which has traditionally been considered an effective means of integration. Against the background of the current situation of crisis in social services and in the social work profession, three aspects of work in teams are discussed. In the first part of the article, changes in welfare systems are described and the effects on the professions. In the second part some traits of work teams are described with special reference to social work. In the third, remarks about problems in and positive aspects of team work.
