The term cohousing is internationally used to identify forms of cohabitation. This corresponds mainly to elective strategies used by families and/or individuals who decide to reside permanently in housing facilities designed to offer both private and shared places. People give different meanings to this type of cohabitation: solidarity, reciprocity and community life. This paper proposes a brief overview on the main models of cohousing found in Italy today.
