The present research aims at pointing out the increasing potentialities of standard content analysis techniques in the investigation of heterogeneous and constantly changing channels, such as the web and the social networks. As regards the research methodology, both quantitative and qualitative techniques were used by employing the innovative mixed methods approach in the web politics analysis based on the online data. Considering the Euro-sceptical political scenario as starting point, the aim of this research is to investigate if the Five Star Movement communication strategy has shifted from a mainly Euro-sceptical trend to a more moderate one during the months preceding the 2014 elections to the European Parliament.
