This paper outlines a general framework of binding climate change rules, start-ing from the fundamental role of the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change (Unfccc), followed by the implementation of the Kyoto Protocol, international agreement linked to the Unfccc, the first and second commitment periods and arriving at the Paris Agreement on climate change, focusing on the fundamental role of adaptation on an equal footing with mitigation in the Paris Agreement. The Author then focuses on the role of agriculture in binding interna-tional climate change rules focusing on the establishment of the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture, an agreement on agriculture to develop and implement new strategies for adaptation and mitigation in the agricultural sector. Finally, the Au-thor outlines the fundamental role of sustainable forms of agriculture both in the binding rules on climate change and in the rules of soft law, particularly in Agenda 2030 and focuses on some tools for the concrete realization of forms of sustainable agriculture.
